A hot horseshoe which was heated in a forge and bent to fit the correct size of a horse's hoof. After fitting the shoe is cooled in water and nailed to the white line of the hoof.

Blacksmiths made horseshoes to fit a horse's hooves. Before the shoes were nailed in place he would trim the hooves for a perfect fit.
